Democracy Volunteers celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, marking a decade of independent election observation.
Since our founding in 2015, the organisation has monitored more than 200,000 voters across 13,000 polling stations and influenced reforms such as the Ballot Secrecy Act 2023.
Supporters across politics and civil society have praised our work: campaigner Lesley Abdela MBE warned that “trust in democratic processes worldwide is under threat,” while Lord Hayward said DV’s research was the foundation of the Ballot Secrecy Act 2023.
Lord Evans, former Chair of the Committee on Standards in Public Life says Democracy Volunteers’ work is ‘vital and timely’.
Director of Unlock Democracy, Tom Brake, describes us as being “on the front line in the defence of democracy.” With cross-party voices from Julie Ward, Willie Rennie MSP and Dr Kieran Mullan MP also supporting our mission, DV enters its second decade recognised as a trusted and vital safeguard for free and fair elections.
