Observing elections to improve democracy

Democracy Volunteers – Crowdfunder Launched

Cropped Tooting ByelecitionAt 4pm today Democracy Volunteers launched a Crowdfunder (follow the link) to support their election observation for the next 12 months. 2016 has been a busy year already for the team having observed elections in Wales, Tooting and across the UK for the EU referendum.

However, the observers are entirely voluntary and we need funds to make sure we can deploy them whenever an election comes up. We deploy to parliamentary elections and referendums and will be deploying a large team to the 2017 local elections in England, Scotland and Wales.

Democracy Volunteers Director, Dr John Ault, said; ‘we rely on volunteers to make sure that we have citizen oversight of elections to make sure that UK elections are conducted properly. With your support we will be able to deploy more and more teams to make sure that this is the case.’
